At Thorncliffe Building Supplies, we are always thinking of ways to make life easier for our customers and that is why we have introduced a new drive through collection station, known as a “Fibo Collect” machine, available at our Ewloe and Dyserth branches.
Fibo Collect is innovative concrete technology that allows local customers to collect exactly the right amount of concrete, mortar and screed when they need it at the push of a button. Save time and money by ordering from as little as 0.25 m3 up to 12 m3 per hour.
HOW IT WORKS
Whether you’re a builder, landscaper or DIYer, Fibo Collect is perfect for anyone who requires small to medium loads of concrete.
Output Capacity: The machine will mix from as little as 0.25m3 in one cycle with the added capacity to mix up to 16m3 in a single hour.
Speed: Every cycle of up to 0.8m3 can be mixed and poured in under 5 minutes.
Using Fibo Collect is easy …
1. Order at the till.
2. Collect your barcode.
3. Position your vehicle or tub under the conveyor belt.
4. Scan your barcode at the “Fibo Collect” touch screen terminal to start mixing.

REMEMBER – Retarder is an additive that is combined with mortar to slow down its setting time, while air entrainer is added to increase the amount of air trapped in the mortar, making it more workable and gives it more frost protection. With the right amount of retarder and air entrainer mortar workability can last for up to 3 days and is sold as either 1day, 2day or 3day mortar.
COLLECTION METHODS
Customers can collect their concrete, mortar or screed in two ways :
1. On the back of a trailer or flatbed truck
2. Poured into mortar tubs (0.25m3 each) which can then be loaded onto a truck or van at the branch.
OUR DELIVERY SERVICE
Thorncliffe Building Supplies now offer a full tub delivery service. Customers can add tubs to existing local deliveries with no added transport costs. Tubs can either be purchased or hired on our deposit scheme and retarders can be added to give mortar workability of up to 3 days.

General Questions
Pricing is completely dependent on the recipe on order, the Fibo Collect machine is capable of mixing up to 60 unique recipes including bespoke recipes on demand. No minimum order fees are charged, ultimately customers only pay for what they need.
We stock two types of 0.25m3 tubs :
1.) The forklift tub,
2.) The crane lift tub with lifting hooks.
Forklift tubs currently cost £100 +VAT. Cranelift tubs currently cost £140+VAT however we do offer a deposit scheme for customers who just want to hire tubs for a shorter period of time.
Yes, we now offer a full tub delivery service. Customers can add tub delivery onto existing deliveries with no added transport costs on local delivery. Tubs can either be purchased or hired on our deposit scheme and retarders can be added to give mortar workability of up to 3 days.
This depends on the location of the site. We are currently offering free delivery in the local area and are happy to add tubs onto existing delivery at no additional cost.
Yes, we now offer a pre-order service. Just email the branch letting the team know what recipe you require, your required volume and when you will be collecting and we will have it ready for you.

Mix Questions
Our Fibo Collect machine is set up to mix from as little as 0.25m3 in one single cycle.
There is no set limit on the maximum volume that customers can order. Your average 0.8m3 cycle will take around 4 minutes in total therefore in 1 hour you could mix up to 12m3 of material mixed and poured.
Up to 3 days, here’s how: Retarder is an additive that is combined with mortar to slow down its setting time, while air entrainer is added to increase the amount of air trapped in the mortar, making it more workable and gives it more frost protection. With the right amount of retarder and air entrainer mortar workability can last for 3 days and is sold as either 1day, 2day or 3day mortar.
As a standard we have around 45 pre-programmed receipes to cover most of the everyday use cases encountered by our customers. We also have the capacity to offer customers special bespoke recipes which can be pre-programmed prior to collection. Have you got a special recipe requirement? We have the option for either red building sand typically used for local brickwork or brown building sand suitable for masonry stonework.
Yes, but the exact ratio can vary depending on factors such as the desired thickness, strength, and drying time of the screed. It’s important to consult with the manufacturer’s guidelines or a structural engineer to determine the appropriate ratio for your specific application.
We can make mortar with either red building sand typically used for local brickwork or brown building sand suitable for masonry stonework. We do not currently introduce mortar dyes into our mixing process.
Each type of concrete has different slumps you can choose from at the till.
Tub Questions
A typical mortar or slab mix is around 400kg. Always check the exact weight and vehicle payloads before using the machine.
A typical paving concrete will weigh in at around 550kg. Always check the exact weight and vehicle payloads before using the machine.
Yes, customers are welcome to collect using their own tubs alternatively you can purchase or hire a tub on our deposit scheme.
We have a forklift on site and ready to help you get your tub onto the back of any vehicle providing the weight is in line with the vehicle payloads. Most customers either use a forklift at site or alternatively go straight into a wheel barrow.
The typical dimensions of a 250l forklift tub are : length 1180mm x width 860mm x height 540mm.
